Proper wine storage is very important

The Naked Vine - Bolton Ontario Once your wine is bottled, you should store the bottles in a cool, dimly lit, moderately humid, and relatively quiet place. Constant exposure to light will produce unwanted chemical reactions in wine and cause it to deteriorate. Ultraviolet light has the greatest effect and white wines are the most vulnerable. Wine should always be stored horizontally and in a place and in a place with a relative humidity of 50-70%. Insufficient humidity or even standing your bottles upright may cause the corks to dry out, lose their elasticity and thereby allow air to get into the bottle. Too much humidity (over 70%) can cause mould to grow

on corks, which could also destroy your wine. You should never store your wine near goods that emit strong doors such as paint cans or cleaning products. The reason for this is that the wine "breathes" through the cork and has a tendency to absorb odours from the air. If no such a place exists, an adequate storage place would be one that the temperature does not fluctuate wildly.
